Wood Engraving Projects

The theme of today's post is all about engraving wood.
It is great working with a natural product like wood. The results are always different but always distinctive.

The boats are by Niel Willis at Kiln Dried Hardwood.

Amazon Kindle Engraving

We don't want to let apple products have all the fun. Here is the Amazon Kidle engraved. Unlike and iPod/iPad the Kindle has a rubbery matt plastic back. When you laser it you get a nice light grey colour underneath.  Looks really nice.

These are formally broken Kindles that are being repurposed as little pieces of art. For more info check out recyclism

Business Card Samples

Long time no blog post.
We've been super busy around here since the start of Summer, no complaints. Just a quick glimpse of what I was up to this afternoon, making a few business card samples.

Laser cut business cards have been tried many times over the years. They are notoriously difficult to get right. The either become prohibitively expensive, to flimsy or just right. These are just samples for now, but I think I am off to a good start.

Science Gallery Gift Box

The Science Gallery at Trinity College, Dublin asked us to laser up a nice gift box they were presenting to a prestigious visitor. So that is exactly what we did, and it came out very nice.

iPod engraving

For my brothers coming birthday (this is Mike by the way) I decided to give him my old iPod touch. I figured this was a great opportunity to try out our new Cermark paste, which allows us to engrave on reflective steel.

The result was a lot better than I expected. It came out great and soon we should be able to add this to our list of services. I just need to try it out on my new scratch free ipod now and get some better photos to put on the website.

Oh that is a Jolteon, an electric Pokemon, if you were wondering.

Felt Letters

Another little project. We cut out a years worth of felt letters for Red Rufus. They make amazing and adorable sock dogs (dogs made out of socks (clean socks)). We even got to meet the real Rufus the dog when we delivered the letters.
Check out Red Rufus at their website or Blog
