Christmas is coming!!

Well it has been a very long time without a post on here, apologies for that! But, things have been very busy here in Snow HQ, there has been a fantastic reception to all of our hard work in the run up to Christmas so we have been working non-stop to keep up with demand.

I did take an evening off this week though to do my favourite thing - gift wrap presents! This year i have combined some great ribbon with my own christmas tags and mini baubles for yet another version of presents wrapped in kraft paper. Below are the results - hopefully if you are looking for some gift-wrapping inspiration this will send you off in a good direction!

Microphone Flags

We got a request last week from my friends at VenueOne. They are a social media website that features live and pre-recorded music. They are having their big launch this weekend and wanted microphone flags for the occasion. We took their design and made the flags out of acrylic and vinyl. They came out looking really nice.

tree display

We are going to have some of our items stocked by a few shops in Dublin. One of them asked for a display stand for the mini houses. I wanted to be able to do something that was sturdy, cheap to make and also recyclable, so that when the Christmas season comes to an end it can pop in the recycling rather than on a landfill.

I came up with this tree in 3-ply corrugated cardboard. It is pretty strong and has holes in the back so that LED ligths can be pushed through and show the houses lit-up. Not only is it recyclable it has also been made using recycled corrugated card from a delivery box I received last week.

Felt Letters

Another little project. We cut out a years worth of felt letters for Red Rufus. They make amazing and adorable sock dogs (dogs made out of socks (clean socks)). We even got to meet the real Rufus the dog when we delivered the letters.
Check out Red Rufus at their website or Blog

Cookie Stencil!

We recently did a little job making a cookie stencil for Kaleidoscope Bakery.
Just letters and numbers cut out of acetate. They do really amazing looking cookies!

alder wood

So we have been cutting snowflakes in wood all day and now my studio smells amazing!

The snowflakes are an awkward shape to cut because they leave a lot of dead space around them which is pretty wasteful.

I decided to pop in the letters from the SNOW logo and cut them out in the dead space - you never know when I might use them.

i like the four tier arrangement, I may lay it out perfectly straight one day and use it as a background image or publicity shot.

Mini Baubles

Another item done in the tinted acrylic. These will look great on hung up with a light source behind them. They have the same designs from the Christmas tags.

Tree lights

Expanding on the mini light rang I now have designed lights with a tree motif and a star motif. Here is a preview of the trees.

Tags

These are in the same vein as the pricetags I posted in September but have Christmas motifs. By sticking solid colours of paper on the reverse of the tags I can highlight the decorations and the tags look great on either side. I am really pleased with these.

Trees

These trees slot together and are made with tinted acrylic. The acrylic looks great but we are currently having a few production issues with huge variations in the thickness of the acrylic so these may not make it out of the the prototype lab!

Pop Up Card

So I have been messing around with PopUp Cards for years but I am finally able to make multiples of one thanks to the laser. My first attempt is this nativity scene.

busy busy busy

I have been meaning to post for such a long time but a combination of lecturing and getting ready for Christmas Fairs has put the blog at the end of a very long to-do list!

We have been up to all kinds of making, and while I haven't had a chance to take good photos I have some quick shots of what we are up to.

First off we are in the process of making 1000 of the mini houses. So far we have about 300 made, here is a glimpse of the construction process.

Pricetags

I made these quickly for the market research event and I will use them when I do fairs as well. These were a surprise hit with people and as a result I am going to develop some more tags in this range to use as gift tags. There are a lot of simple shapes that would be really effective on these.

More mini houses

These have been on here before but I have a better picture of them now. These were possibly the most popular item at my market research event. I was delighted with the reaction, as a result I will be doing a few more designs in this range, a church, a shop and maybe a little crib.
